A complete range of services.

General handyman and household services.

Building repairs, floorboard repairs, door furniture fitting, installing architraves and skirting boards, assembly of items such as flat-pack furniture, play gyms and sheds, plastering, installing shelving, animal runs and enclosures, property detailing (eg. prior to sale, or in between tenants).

Subcontracting, consultants and authorities.

Where relevant, and in consultation with you, Chapman Building Services can also, liaise with the local council, engage consultants — such as architects or other designers, town planners and quantity surveyors — or liaise with consultants appointed by the client, procure materials, and retain subcontractors.

Domestic building works.

Large and small, internal and external home renovations, installing decking, constructing pergolas and carports, erecting fencing and gates

After hours.

Bob can be available, by prior arrangement, for performance of services after hours and weekends, he can also be available for emergency call-outs.

Rates.

Small projects (4 hours or less)

$65.00 for the first hour, $50.00 for each hour thereafter (plus GST)

Minor works requiring more than one visit, but totally 4 hours or less, will be charged at the above rates for each day of service.

Medium to large projects

$50.00 per hour (plus GST), or at an agreed written fixed scope / fixed price quote.

Chapman Building Services is fully insured and able to offer Builders Indemnity Insurance on all jobs over $12,000.00 as required by the Building Regulations. We also have full Contract works and Public Liability Insurance to $10M.

  1. Do you have an ABN?

  2. How does Chapman Building Services charge for its services?
    Please refer to rates and prices for these details.

  3. Do you charge for travelling time?
    No, travel time is accounted for in our rates.

  4. Do you provide quotes?
    Chapman Building Services will provide written quotes upon request for all projects, and otherwise will work at an hourly rate, plus materials and any subcontracted services (both agreed in advance).

  5. Can quotes be given over the phone?
    It is preferable for both Chapman Building Services and you that Chapman Building Services inspects your project prior to providing a quote, for clarity and certainty. Chapman Building Services can, however, discuss hourly rates by phone.

  6. What are your standard payment terms?
    Terms of payment will be discussed and agreed in writing in advance of works being performed. Typically, large projects will require an upfront deposit of between 5 and 10% as set out in the Security of Payments Act. Invoices will be issued at the conclusion of smaller projects, and on an agreed interim basis for larger projects. Full payment of each invoice is to be made within 7 days of your receipt of the invoice.

  7. What payment options are available?
    Chapman Building Services accepts cash, cheques and electronic funds transfers.

  8. Will my phone messages be returned promptly?
    Chapman Building Services will make every effort to return your call as quickly as possible, and in any event on the same day.

  9. How do we know when Chapman Building Services will turn up to give a quote or start a job?
    Chapman Building Services will agree with you a date and time for inspection, and a program for the project’s progress.

  10. Are you insured?
    Chapman Building Services has public liability and motor vehicle insurance coverage. Any projects performed by Chapman Building Services with a total value exceeding $12,000 will also, as required by law, be covered by compulsory Builders Indemnity Insurance.

  11. Who will perform the services for me?
    The proprietor of Chapman Building Services, Bob Chapman will be the primary person responsible for performance of your services. From time to time, and depending on the nature and size of your project, Chapman Building Services may (with your prior agreement):

    • subcontract some aspects of the services (eg. specialist trades such as plumbing or electrical works) to qualified and reputable tradespeople with whom Chapman Building Services has an existing working relationship; and/or
    • engage reliable subcontractors (again, with whom Chapman Building Services has an existing relationship) to provide additional labour to progress your works at your desired rate.
